Thus, breast augmentation is a highly customizable procedure. During your consultation with Dr. Gonzalez, you will be asked to consider the following options regarding material, incision type, and implant placement.
There are several types of breast implants, each with different advantages. Dr. Gonzalez offers three common breast implant types.

At Le Contour Aesthetic Surgery, Dr. Gonzalez prefers submuscular implant placement. This means the breast implants will be placed beneath the pectoral muscle, which allows for a more natural look and feel.
Depending on your needs and aesthetic goals, Dr. Gonzalez may use one of three breast incision locations.
Breast augmentation surgery is typically an outpatient procedure performed under general anesthesia. Once the surgery is finished, the patient goes to a private recovery space and is monitored before they are released. Patients will need someone to drive them home after surgery and monitor them for 24 to 48 hours.
Patients will need to wear a recovery compression bra to reduce swelling and promote blood circulation. This compression garment speeds the healing process and helps ensure that the implants settle correctly. Patients can resume everyday activities within a few days and light exercise as soon as they feel capable of doing so (heavy lifting should still be avoided).
Patients should avoid strenuous exercise and other physical activities for a few weeks or until cleared by Dr. Gonzalez.
For many women, breast augmentation surgery is a life-changing experience that brings gorgeous outcomes that appear natural. Incisions may take several months or years to fade, depending on the skin and underlying tissues. Bras or bathing suits usually conceal the scars, and all scars fade over time.
After the surgery, some pain is normal and usually subsides within the first five days. Soreness and swelling may last a few weeks. That being said, breast enhancement surgery is considered a safe way to create outstanding aesthetic results.
The results of your breast augmentation are known to last many years. As breast implants are not guaranteed to last forever, you should undergo routine MRIs or ultrasounds to verify the integrity of your implants.
For most patients, breast implants last between 10 and 15 years. In some cases, implants may last longer; however, most patients replace their breast implants at some point.
As implants age, the risk of complications, such as implant rupture, increases. For saline implants, a rupture is noticeable immediately. For silicone implants, ruptures can be difficult to detect. Patients with breast implants should undergo periodic screenings to ensure their breast implants are in good shape.
These MRI screenings are not the same as a mammogram and do not replace your need for mammograms.
Breast augmentation surgery usually takes between one and two hours to perform. Patients should expect to remain under observation for another hour or two after surgery to ensure there are no complications. This is important as breast enhancement surgery is performed under general anesthesia.
Patients should expect to spend between two and five hours total at our office before returning home.
Breast augmentation is often performed at the same time as breast lift surgery for a combined augmentation and lift procedure. This is because a breast augmentation alone cannot elevate the breasts to a higher position on the chest, while a breast lift alone cannot increase the size of the breasts. Combined, these procedures achieve the most substantial breast enhancement transformation.
Breast enhancement procedures are commonly combined with liposuction or a tummy tuck as part of a Mommy Makeover procedure. There are many advantages to combining procedures, such as consolidated recovery time, limited anesthesia exposure, and a more visible improvement of the entire torso at once.
