Blepharoplasty (Eyelid Plastic Surgery)

Eyelid plastic surgery, also called blepharoplasty, can restore the skin around the eyes to a more youthful appearance. For younger patients with bags under the eyes but no significant skin wrinkling, transconjunctival blepharoplasty can remove the excess fat which causes the bags without external scars.

Blepharoplasty removes the visible signs of aging. Your skin will look tighter and firmer and the bags under the eyes will be eliminated. That “tired look” will be gone and you will look well rested and years younger. Excess hanging skin in the eye area and lower eyelid puffiness can cause some patients to seek eyelid surgery, or blepharoplasty. As early as 30, some patients may find that the skin surrounding the eye area shows the signs of aging more than other facial features. Eyelid surgery is an effective way to reduce the appearance of loose skin and create a more rested, youthful look. The surgery begins with an incision along the upper and lower eyelids. Excess fat, muscle and skin are trimmed away. This outpatient procedure, which typically takes one to three hours, is performed under anesthesia and gives long lasting results. Eyelid surgery may cause temporary side effects, including discomfort, tight skin, dry eyes, bruising, swelling, and sensitivity to light. Most patients are able to return to work and light activity in two weeks or less.

Because blepharoplasty can be completed through small incisions, most patients at our Orlando practice enjoy minimal scarring and the most natural-looking eyelid surgery results. Dr. Gonzalez can customize your procedure to fit your specific needs, helping you achieve your personal appearance goals.
